Who will get the COVID vaccine next?

Vaccinations are starting to roll out around Australia. The first high-risk group of frontline health and quarantine workers, as well as people living and working in aged and disability residential services, have already started to receive theirs.

So, who is in the next group to be offered vaccinations?

The next high priority group includes people with disability at greater risk of becoming very sick if they get coronavirus (COVID-19). This includes people with disability who:

  • are over 70
  • are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • have underlying medical conditions such as:
    • immunocompromised
    • multiple comorbidities or conditions
    • chronic lung disease
    • diabetes
    • heart disease
    • severe obesity.

You can read more about when the vaccine will be offered to different groups on the Department of Health website.

You can also check when you will be able to get vaccinated by using the Australian Government’s Vaccine Eligibility Checker.
