Advocates may find that the “need to ensure the financial sustainability” of the NDIS could be used by the Agency to justify a denial of supports or inadequate funding.  However, advocates may also utilise this concept for advancing the rights and interests of people with disability. Investment in supports that enable participation and prevent exclusion and deterioration are financially beneficial in the long term, as fewer supports would become necessary and costs would be avoided. Providing evidence along with explanation and prediction of the potential benefits for the person and eventual savings for the scheme may help to secure adequate funding through using the need to ensure financial sustainability of the NDIS.
